Friday at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Orchard.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Orchard American Legion post #136.  Gene Moser passed away April 17, 2018 at the Antelope Memorial Hospital.

Eugene Cecil Moser was born on March 14th, 1948 to Leona (Montgomery) Moser and Cecil Lloyd Moser. He graduated from Orchard High School with the class of 1966. Gene entered into the Army in 1968 and did his basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington. He then served in Vietnam where he walked point and was a sniper. Gene returned home in 1969 to farm with his dad.

Gene married Lynette Classen and to this union five daughters were born. Terra Kay, Brooke Deneise, Candace Jean, Page Marie, and Lindsey Dawn. On March 31st, 1990 he married Becky Sue Green at the Presbyterian Church in Ewing, NE.

After farming he and his family moved to Orchard where he worked at the Orchard Cheese Factory for several years and then as a custodian at the Orchard Public School until he retired in 2010. At the present time he was helping out at Mitteis Gravel during the summer months and during the winter he enjoyed sitting in his chair with his grand dog, Phoebe, watching the snow fly.

Gene’s greatest pride was his five daughters and their families. You could always find him sitting on the bleachers supporting his children and grandchildren in whichever sport they were playing at that time. Whether it be Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, Track, Softball or Baseball, he was there and always wearing the coordinating color for that town. His dresser drawers are filled with orange, green and red shirts, so he never had a problem with not knowing what to wear. Gene also enjoyed golfing with the men on Thursday nights for men’s league. This night was the only night that his golf game may have taken precedence over his grandkids’ activities. He always looked forward to going south for a couple of weeks in the winter and of course, to Vegas once a year.

Proceeding him in death were his parents, his mother-in-law, Darlene Green and a brother-in-law, Lyle Sparr.

Survivors include, his wife, Becky, his five daughters, Terra and Neil Williby of Royal, Brooke and Chris Mann of Winside, Candace Moser and Michael Nelson of Orchard, Page and Jeremy Wagner of Ewing, Lindsey and Brian Switzer of Royal, 15 grandchildren, Brock and Dalton Williby, Mercedes and Zach Bretschneider, Sean and Jacoby Mann, Kinzly and Eli Macke, Landon Nelson, Wyatt, Brenna, and Mathias Wagner, Jaiden, Gage, Taelyn and Ruger Switzer, one step grandchild, Heather Jackson, one great granddaughter, Willow, three step great granddaughters, Aubrey, Autumn, and Avery, one sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Eldon Schacht of Orchard, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
