Evalena Belle Brittell

Funeral Services for Evalena B. Brittell age 93 of Neligh, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025 at Neligh Faith Community Church with Pastor Bruce Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday December 28, 2025 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Evalena gained her angel wings on Dec 25, 2025 at Antelope Memorial Hospital at Neligh surrounded by her three daughters.      Evalena “Smoky” Belle Brittell was born on June 7, 1932 near Meadow Grove, Nebraska in a two room house. She was the fifth in age to be born in the family of eight. Evalena was a hard worker, she cleaned several businesses in Neligh and cleaned for a lot of individuals in Neligh, too. On July 17, 1948, she married the love of her life, Leland Francis Brittell of Neligh to this union four children were born Robert, Linda, Connie, and Donna.

     Evalena is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Linda (Dean) Wilkinson of Oakdale, NE; Connie (Bruce) Ofe of Oakdale, NE; and Donna Brittell of Neligh. Three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren. Sister, Nina Clark of Mentone, CA; sister-in-laws, Janice (Bill) Mavis of Norfolk, NE and Opal (Loy) Halsey of Chapman, KS.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Loy and Pearl Halsey and in laws Chester and Laura Brittell. Her husband; a son at birth; and granddaughter, Amanda. Four brothers, Virgil, Loy Jr., Darrel, and Melvin; sisters LaVonne (Johnny) Bolling and Norma (Earl) Petersen. Several nieces and nephews.

     She will be remembered by being a jokester or “trouble”.
