Funeral services for Gertrude A Carlson age 88 of Plainview will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview.
Visitation will be 1 Hour prior Service at the Church. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview. Gertrude passed away Nov. 13th at the Avera Care Center in Creighton, NE.
Gertrude Anna Helen (Zobel) Carlson was born on April 27, 1930, to Louis and Anna (Maute) Zobel on the family farm near Creighton, Nebraska, and was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazille Mills, Nebraska. She attended country school in Knox County and high school in Creighton.
On September 7, 1949, she married Melvin Carlson in Vermillion, South Dakota. During the first few years of their marriage they lived in Norfolk, Nebraska, where Melvin was employed as a dispatcher for the Nebraska State Patrol. They later moved to a farm near Plainview where they spent the remainder of their lives farming. She was a busy farmwife, helping Melvin as needed with the farm work, taking care of a home, and raising their three daughters.
She was a member of the Creighton VFW Ladies Auxiliary 1151, Women’s Club, Better Homes Club, and Priscillas. She also frequently helped as a volunteer with the Red Cross blood drive. She enjoyed gardening, collecting cookbooks, doing various arts and crafts, going deer hunting with her husband and grandsons, and spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
She passed away on November 13, 2018, at Avera Creighton Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edwin Zobel, and her husband.
She is survived by her three daughters Ann Carlson, Sandra Carlson and Lori Lingenfelter,
all of Creighton; her grandsons Chad Lingenfelter (Cindy) of Arlington, Nebraska, and Nick Lingenfelter (ReBecca) of Plainview; and six great-grandchildren: Dylan Lingenfelter of Plainview, Emily Lingenfelter of Arlington, and Peyton, Savannah, Gracelynn and Alaina Lingenfelter of Plainview.
