Services for Jack C. Hoffman, 89 of Plainview will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday October 23rd at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with burial at St Paul’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday October 22nd from 5 to 7 pm at Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview.

Jack Hoffman was born August 17,1935 in Foster to John and Meta (Springer) Hoffman and passed away on October 16, 2024. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1953. Following graduation, he volunteered for military service and served in the Army in Korea for two years. After the service he worked for a brief time on a pipeline crew in Oklahoma and then was employed by Hoffman Construction until he started farming in 1958.

He met Shirley Voecks at a July 4th dance at Lakeview Dance Pavilion in Antelope County, and they were married May 24, 1956. To this union, they had four children: Julie, Jeanie, Robert, and Rory. Jack and Shirley began farming northeast of Plainview in 1958 with a row crop operation along with milking cows and raising hogs. Jack also prided himself on raising fat cattle in the early years that topped the market. Throughout his life, Jack absolutely loved being outside and “tootling” around the farm on his side by side. In later years Jack was known to make his daily rounds at all the local coffee stops. His dry sense of humor and hearing loss resulted in some interesting coffee conversations. As a creature of habit, each and every week Jack and Shirley went to Saturday night mass followed by supper at a restaurant.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, infant brother Larry, sister Janice Maly, and brothers-in-law Jim Maly, Bill Neuman and Gene Voecks. Survivors include: daughters Julie (Mark) Newman and Jeanie Hoffman; sons Robert (Val) Hoffman, and Rory (Paula) Hoffman; brother Darrell (Claire) Hoffman; sisters Joyce Neuman and Judy (Bob) Campagnone; grandchildren Josh Newman, Cassie (Shea) Trumbauer, Jennifer (Aaron) Wolfe, Grace Hoffman, Jaxson Hoffman, Weston Hoffman, Ashley (Chris) Graves, Lindsey (Cody) Rozeboom, Tyler (Alisa) Wattier, Shelby Wattier, Alex (Tessa) Held, Rachel (Landon) Hook and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was the favorite uncle to 21 nieces and nephews.
