Jane Christine (Bush) Loewe was born on June 4, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jane was the daughter of Gerard “Jerry” and Asta (Hansen) Bush. She grew up in Lincoln, where her family was steeped in Husker tradition while her father coached Nebraska basketball. Jane graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965 and was an active member of Delta Gamma at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, earning her degree in education in 1970.
Jane began her teaching career in Beatrice, Nebraska, where she met Dennis, the love of her life. After brief stops in Murdock and Central City, they settled in Palmer, Nebraska. There they built a life rooted in community, service, and joy. Over her 28 years as an educator in Palmer, Jane impacted hundreds of students with her warmth, humor, and fierce dedication. She served with the Merrick Foundation, the Palmer Commercial Club, and as president of the Palmer Education Association. In 2012, she and Dennis were honored to serve as Grand Marshals of the Palmer Fall Festival.
Jane embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved her card club, golf league, and “The Young and the Restless” pitch group, and she never missed a chance to visit the casino. She enjoyed traveling to watch her nephews and grandchildren pursue their athletic and artistic passions.
Those who knew Jane will remember her as someone who lived big and loved deeply. She was filled with kindness and generosity, had a natural gift for hospitality, and was always inclusive of everyone around her. She adored her husband and children and was a proud momma bear throughout her life.
In 2019, Jane and Dennis moved to Lincoln, where they treasured their retirement years with family and attended every possible Husker basketball game to cheer on their nephew and great nephews.
