Funeral Services for John Slizoski, age 83 of Ewing were at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, with Father James Kramper, Officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Harpster, Organist and Doug Wright, Soloist. Burial was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Ewing, NE Pallbearer were John Anson, Dustin Wright, Seth Anson, Justin Ritz, Colby Ritz, Michael Koenig, Larry Kaczor, and Gene Schwager. Honorary Pallbearers were The Granddaughters and Great Grandchildren. Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary at Snider Memorial Funeral Home, Clearwater, Nebraska.
John passed away Saturday, August 14,2010 at Golden Living Center in O'Neill, NE.
John Virgil Slizoski was born on March 2, 1927 to Frank and Anna (Cielocha) Slizoski in Fullerton, Nebraska. He attended Lone Tree Country School in Ewing and received his GED. He enlisted into the United State Marines Corps on September 1945 at Kansas City Missouri. He was discharged on October 1946 from San Francisco, CA. He farmed near Fullerton with his brother Raymond. On February 18, 1950 he was united into marriage to Lois Hawk St Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing. John worked at the packing plant in Omaha until 1951. They then returned to the Ewing area and farmed and ranched at various places for many years. 1971 they moved to the Slizoski family farm southwest of Ewing where they operated diary, raised cattle until retiring in 2009 and currently reside there. John enjoyed fishing, playing cards (poker), horse and dog racing. He also, liked playing the button accordion, dancing, and spending time with his family and grandkids. He was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing. He belonged to Sander's American Legion Post #214.
He is survived by his wife Lois of Ewing. Children: Cindy and husband Chuck Ritz of Comstock, Ne, Frances Anson of Ewing, NE, Susan Wright of Ewing, Rita and husband Terry Anson, of Ewing, NE, Gina and husband Kevin Koenig of Ewing, NE. 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Brother: Ted Slizoski of Bellevue, NE. Sisters: Clara Latzel, Rosie Synoweicki, Esther Midowski, Susie Vinski all of Omaha. Sister-in-Law Louise Slizoski of Omaha, NE and Irene Slizoski of Sioux City, IA.
John was preceded in death by his parents. Brothers: Charles, Louie, Raymond, Eddie, Leo, twin brother Frankie, Steve and Adam. A sisters, Cecilia
