Funeral services for Lanny Williby, age 73, of Royal will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2nd at the United Methodist Church in Orchard. Burial will be in the Royal Cemetery. Visitation for Lanny Williby will be from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, July 1st at the United Methodist Church in Orchard. Lanny passed away June 29, 2018 at the Osmond General Hospital.
Lanny Herbert Williby was born November 7, 1944 in Orchard, NE to Herbert and Ardith (Mattison) Williby and big brother Errol. He attended and graduated from Royal School in 1963. After graduation, he took over the family farm and married Lynn Weber on September 5, 1965 in Neligh, NE. To this union two sons were born, Chris Jason and Neil Shane. Lanny was drafted in the National Guard in 1966 where he served six years. While actively farming, raising hogs and milking cows, he served as secretary for the Verdigris Township. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and an occasional game of cards. Lanny and Lynn wintered for many years in Laughlin, Nevada. If the mood struck them right, you could find them at a casino where they made many friends. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very proud of all of them.
Lanny is survived by his wife, Lynn, of 52 years; his sons, Chris and Mary (Nelson) Williby of Royal and Neil and Terra (Moser) Williby of Royal; four grandchildren, Jessica (Williby) Shaver and John of Orchard, Anthony and Andrea (Hemenway) Williby of Orchard and Brock Williby and Dalton Williby of Royal; six great grandchildren, Jason, Jaelyn, and Journey Shaver and Adalynn, Ansley, and Alaina Williby all of Orchard; one sister-in-law, Barb (Williby) Dunning and Jerry of Grand Island; one brother-in-law, Ed & Kim Weber of Omaha; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Lanny is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Williby; Stepfather, Elvin Reinke; mother, Ardith (Williby) Reinke; brother, Errol Williby; and in-laws Charles and Mildred Weber.
Lanny had a way of making a person feel special and would put a smile on their face. He will be greatly missed by all.
