Funeral Services for Larry Nordby age 76, of Ewing, NE, will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing, NE with Pastor Stuart Davis, Officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 Friday, July 18, 2014 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, NE. Burial will be in Ewing City Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Sanders American Legion Post #214 of Ewing. Larry passed away July 15, 2014 in Omaha. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Larry D. Nordby was born on December 29, 1937 to Steve and Edna (Claussen) Nordby in Hartington, NE. He graduated from Coleridge Community School with the Class of 1957. Larry enlisted in the United States Army on June 13, 1957 in Omaha, NE and was discharged on June 12, 1963 from Fort Sheridan, IL. On June 6, 1964 he was united in marriage to Louise McCart in Sioux City, IA. He was the owner of Larry's Market from 1975 and retired in 1998. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and woodworking. Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to their sporting activities. He was a member of the United Methodist Presbyterian Church and council, Ewing Fire Department, served on Ewing Village Board and served as Mayor. Survived by his wife, Louise. Children: Everett Nordby of Colorado Springs, CO, Ed and Mary Jo Nordby of Ewing, NE, Eva and Al James of Sioux City, IA, Eric and Paula Nordby of Bellevue, NE, Elliot and Kim Nordby of Norfolk, NE. Foreign exchange student "son" Christian and Verena Eggeling of Gottingen, Germany and their daughters. 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Sister-in-laws: Velma Nordby of Coleridge, NE and Carole Nordby of Hartington, NE. Many nieces, nephews, friends and family. Preceded in death by parents, brothers: one in infancy, Darrell Nordby and Dean Nordby. 2 nephews: Carey Nordby and Bruce Nordby.
