Funeral service for Leland E. Christiansen will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Congregational United Church of Christ in Plainview, Nebraska with Pastor Joan Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview with Military Rites conducted by Plainview American Legion Post #148. Visitation will be Wednesday September 3, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at Congregational United Church of Christ in Plainview. Leland passed away on August 28, 2025 at Whispering Pines in Plainview. Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Plainview is handling the arrangements. Leland Eugene Christiansen was born on September 14, 1943 to J. Frederick and Mae (Brokaw) Christiansen, on the farm near Lindy, Nebraska. He was baptized on September 9, 1945 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. He served in the United States Navy from October 5, 1965 until October 5, 1967 near the coast of west California near San Diego. On August 6, 1988, he was united in marriage to Karen S. (Leitzke) at St. John Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Ne. They enjoyed traveling, watching football games and eating out. Leland won the Grand Outstanding Sheep Wool Award. He was a lifelong farmer He loved his cows and calves, his dog Pepper, and cats.
Leland is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karen (Leitzke) Christiansen of Creighton, his two sisters, Dorothy Babcock of Creighton, NE and Esther Behrens of Norfolk, Ne. Eight nephews and eight nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother in laws, brothers: Vernon (Bernice) Christiansen, Norman (Luretta) Christiansen, Donald Christiansen and Ernest (Sharon) Christiansen. Sisters Fern Stacken. Brother-in-law’s George C Babcock, Ralph Clausen, Marlin C. Behrens, Jim Stacken, and Bill Goodmen.
