Linda Sukup

Funeral will for Linda Sukup will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 28, 2019, at St. Mary’s Church in Osmond, Nebraska, with Interment to follow at the parish cemetery with Ashburn Funeral Home directing.

Linda (Viergutz) Sukup, age 71, of Navarre, Florida, formerly of Osmond, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019.

She was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Vance D. and J. Dolores Viergutz on October 23, 1947.  Linda was a graduate of Randolph St. Frances and St. Mary’s College in Omaha, Nebraska.

After college Linda worked as a teacher and as a caregiver for the mentally handicapped while being a homemaker.  Linda was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Osmond, Nebraska, until moving to Navarre, Florida, in 2013 where she became a member of St. Sylvester’s Church.

In Osmond, Linda was a member and past officer of St. Mary’s Guild.  Linda taught religious education for many years, served as a Eucharist minister, and a lector at St. Mary’s.  After she retired and moved to Florida, she became more involved in her religious activities. Linda was a member and past officer of the Columbiettes. Linda was also involved in Bible Studies, Women of Grace, Golden Girls, and Bereavement Committee. She was a Eucharist minister and a lector. Linda willingly gave of her time and abilities when possible to serve God and others.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Vance and J. Dolores Viergutz.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Deacon Charles Sukup, of Navarre, Florida; son, Thomas (Louwanna) Sukup of Atchison, Kansas; son, David (Tonya) Sukup of Davenport, Iowa; daughter, Kathleen (James) Faulkner of Johnston , Iowa; brother, Greg (Kathi) Viergutz of Lincoln, Nebraska;  sister-in-law, Barbara Gubbels of Douglas, Wyoming; five grandchildren, a niece, and three nephews.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at St. Sylvester Church in Gulf Breeze, Florida, with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with Rev. John Kelly officiating, assisted by Rev. Alvaro Gonzalez, and Lewis Funeral Home directing.

Memorial donations can be made to Charles Sukup (7272 Freedom Court, Navarre, Florida 32566) where the funds will be donated in Linda’s honor to both her churches.
