Funeral Services for Lola Potter age 97 of Columbus formally of Neligh were 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Neligh, NE with Pastor Fay Hubbard, Officiating. Music was provided by Marie Krohn, Pianist. Burial was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Wilkinson, Rodney Carstensen, Rick Carstensen, Roger Carstensen, Tanner Hess, Korbyn Freeman, Sean Carstensen, and Travis Byers. Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Lola passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Cottonwood House in Columbus, Ne. Lola Potter daughter of Harry and Melissa (Bolich) Brown was born February 5, 1916 at Long Pine, NE. She attended grade school and graduated from high school Class of 1933 in Long Pine. On July 21, 1935 she was united in marriage to Marion Potter in Bassett, NE. Three children were born to this union; Duane, Lois, and Janice. They lived on a farm near Long Pine for several years and then moved to a farm north of Springview in 1944 where they raised their family. Due to some health issues Marion was having related to farming they left the farm and moved to Neligh in 1955 where they lived the remainder of their lives. Lola and Marion were active members of the Neligh United Methodist Church. Lola sang in the church choir and a member of the ladies aide. She enjoyed dancing, singing, sewing, gardening, playing cards, and belonged to a local camping club. Lola loved to bowl and was in bowling league for many years. For 14 years their winters were spent in Arizona enjoying the warm weather and the company of other retirees. On July 16 2005 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary along with numerous family members and friends. Lola is survived by her son, Duane and wife Florence Potter of Columbus, NE. Daughters, Lois Carstensen of Columbus, NE and Janice Logan of Norfolk, NE. 8 grandchildren an, 19 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Everett and Alfred, and 2 sisters, Isabel and Clara. 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
