Funeral services for Marian Schacht, 81, of Orchard, NE will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Orchard on January 5th, 2024. Pastor Janke will perform the services at 11:00 am. Visitation will be January 4th, from 5 -7 pm at the Lutheran Church in Orchard.
Marian was born to Cecil and Leona (Montgomery) Moser at the Orchard Hospital in Orchard, NE on October 12, 1942. She grew up on a farm in the Venus community north of Orchard.
Marian attended grade school across the road from her home in Knox County. She attended Creighton High School graduating with the Class of 1960.
On September 4th, 1960, she married Elden Schacht of rural Orchard at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Orchard. To this union four children were born, Joan, Kent, Jill, and Jodi.
Marian was employed at various businesses around town with the Orchard Medical Clinic being the longest. She also started the Lunch Box in 1982. Marian was also a homemaker and helped with various things around the farm before they moved to Orchard in 1992. She was an active member of the community for many years. She was always ready to volunteer to cook or bake something for the Church or any activity. She was well known for her famous potato salad. Making gallons over the years.
She and Elden enjoyed years of traveling to different areas, countries, and continents.
Marian always enjoyed the company of her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whenever they stopped by to visit. She also liked to stay connected with the many friends she made over the years.
Marian is survived by her husband, Elden of 63 years. Her four children, Joan Schacht, and husband (Rob McCabe) of New York, New York, Kent (Lisa) Schacht of rural Orchard, Jill (Keith) Hamilton of Lincoln, NE, and Jodi (Bill) Gloe of Garretson, SD, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two sister-in-laws, Marilyn Barton of Columbus, NE and Becky Moser of Orchard, NE and one brother-in-law and wife, Wayne, and Julia Schacht all of Orchard. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors, friends she made through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Leona Moser, her brother, Eugene Moser, her in-laws, Mildred, and Bernard Schacht all of Orchard. Also, her brother-in-law, Doug Barton and stepfather, Art Boies.
Marian will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and the community of Orchard and surrounding area.
