Funeral services for Marjorie Lee Friedrich age 79 of Plainview will be at 10:30 am Friday, December 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview.  Burial will be in the Danish Cemetery in rural Plainview Visitation will be on Thursday, December 27 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview.

Marjorie Lee (Barnes) Friedrich, the daughter of John L. and Nona H. (Jensen) Barnes , was born April 25, 1939 in Gordon, Nebraska. She passed away on December 23, 2018 at the age of 79. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osmond, and in 1959 she was confirmed into the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview, Nebraska.

Marge attended rural schools in Pierce county until the eighth grade. At the age of 13 she lived and worked for Gene and Euna Baber at their café until graduating from Plainview High School. She attended Wayne State College where she received a teacher’s certificate, then taught in a rural school for several years.

Marjorie married Walter Friedrich on December 19, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church. They celebrated 60 loving years of marriage. They lived their lives on farms around Plainview before buying a farm of their own, where they raised three daughters.

Later in life, Marge and Walt moved into Plainview where Marge owned and operated Friedrich’s Garden for 21 years, until retiring due to health problems. She enjoyed visiting with all of her customers both young and old where she was known as “the Angel Lady” because of her love of angels. After retirement she enjoyed spending even more time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents: James and Nona (Jensen) Barnes, Father and mother in law: Jacob and Elsie (Weyrich) Friedrich, Brother James “Jimmy” Barnes and Sister Norma (Barnes) Ruterbories, Brother in law Elmer Friedrich, Brother and Sister in law Clifford and Alice (Kieckhafer) Friedrich, Brother in law Ray Krohn, And beloved daughter Shelly L. (Friedrich) Johnston

She is survived by her husband Walter, daughters Barbara Friedrich of Plainview, Nebraska and Susan (Michael) Johnson of Oswego, New York, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
