Michael Kim Alexander passed peacefully, surrounded by his sons on December 12. 2023. Memorial services for Mike will take place at Plainview United Methodist Church on Friday December 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. Funeral reception at Thomsen’s Corner in Osmond, NE to follow.  Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview is in charge of arrangements.

Mike was born in Plainview, NE on December 13, 1950 to Floyd and Edna (Heyer) Alexander. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1968 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He was married to Jill Thomsen of Osmond, NE on October 18, 1970. At that time the couple moved to Okinawa, Japan where Mike was stationed in the Army as a military police officer.

In 1976, Mike received an honorable discharge from the Army, so he and Jill relocated to Denver, CO. where they lived briefly before returning to Osmond, NE. There they raised their three children. He took a very active role in teaching his sons to play sports as well as camping, fishing and hunting. He was a troop leader for their cub scout pack and a staple of his son’s activities. At that time Mike also became partners with Jerry Thomsen and took over ownership of Thomsen’s Corner from the late Louis Thomsen.

In 1988, Mike gained employment with Sterling Distributors as well as BNC Industrial Contractors, both out of Omaha, NE. In 2008 he moved back to his family farm in Plainview, NE where he resided until his death. His hobbies included playing cards, playing pool and taking his grandkids for tractor and 4-wheeler rides.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Edna, and his brother, Lance Alexander. He is survived by his sons, Cory Alexander (Sarah), Ryan Alexander (Pam) and Shanon Alexander (Jen), four grandchildren, Ireland, Flynn, Kellen and Skylynn, his brothers Steve Alexander (Diane) and Jon Scott Alexander (Patsy) as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
