Norbert Nicholas was born in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, on Aug. 20, 1919. Norbert was born to Joseph and Christina (Stieren) Krienert, as the fourth of nine children. When he was a little more than two months old, he moved with his parents and three older sisters to a farm two miles south and a half-mile west of Osmond.
Norbert attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, and after his mother and father’s deaths he became the primary caretaker of his younger siblings. He married the love of his life, Lucille Rose Gubbels, on October 18, 1945. Together they raised their twelve children to work hard and pray harder. Norbert kept busy farming as well as being an active member in the community as a St. Mary’s Church Member, School Board Member, Parish Council Member, Rural Fire Department Member, and a Cemetery Board member.
Norbert’s joys in life were his faith, wife, family, and farm. Norbert was full of energy and his love of life radiated with his contagious laugh that echoed through the room.
