Paul J. Haverkamp was born on July 14, 1936 to Hobert and Thelma Haverkamp in Creighton, Nebraska. Paul married Marjorie Topf, and they had four children, Joan, Jolene, Doug, and Mark. Paul and Marge settled in Plainview, Nebraska where they owned and operated a successful grocery store; Paul's G.W. Market for 25 years. In retirement, they spent many years traveling in the motorhome across the country with Jolene and their dog Midget. Paul enjoyed cutting out small figurines for Marge's craft shows. When they finished their yardwork, they truly enjoyed a glass of wine admiring the view.
Paul was a very faithful and a steady presence with his family and his church. At his home parish, he was an active member and held various positions throughout his years of service.
He is survived by three children: Joan Spencer of Hastings, Nebraska, Doug (Katie) Haverkamp of lowa Falls, lowa, and Mark (Stacy) Haverkamp of Aberdeen, South Dakota. Six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, his daughter Jolene Haverkamp and son-in-law Larry Spencer.
