Funeral services for Velene “Val” Kay Mahlendorf age 76 of Neligh, Nebraska will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 10:00 am at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh with Pastor Bruce Phillips, officiating. Burial will be held at 11:45 am at Highland Cemetery in Lynch, Nebraska. Visitation will be at Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3:00 - 5:00 pm at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. Val passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living in Cozad, NE. Val was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.      Velene “Val” Mahlendorf was born on April 3, 1947 to Harold and Velma (Pritchett) Wickersham at Lynch, Nebraska. Val attended Country School and Lynch High School. On January 21, 1967, she married Leonard Mahlendorf. They were blessed with two daughters, Dranoel and Danielle. Val was a devoted mother and was able to be a stay home mom. When her daughters got older, she managed The Neligh Legion Club. Later she worked at The Imperial Steakhouse, and The Tilden Legion Club. Val enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and her grandchildren and great-grandson. She enjoyed bowling, drawing, painting and listening to country music. She enjoyed spending time with family and her friends at special gatherings over the years.

     Survived by her daughters, Dranoel and husband, Bill Fleharty of Cozad, NE, children: Kalynn (Hank) Pflaster son, Cohen; Raegen, Waylon and Clatyn Fleharty; and Danielle and husband, Will Hatterman of Tilden, NE and children Wylie and Brody Hatterman. Brothers, Jack (Julie) Wickersham of Parker, SD; John Wickersham of Lynch, NE. Sister-in-law, Mary Wickersham of Newton, IA, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

     Preceded in death by her parents; brothers Lawrence Wickersham, Larry Wickersham, Dennis (Connie) Wickersham and Darold (Brenda) Wickersham.
